ASIMO by Honda
ASIMO stands for Advanced Step in Innovative Mobility.It was created by Honda in 2000. It was created to someday assist people in their daily lives. ASIMO is considered to be one of the most advanced AI Humanoid robots.
It weighs 48 kilograms (kg) and is 4 ft. 3 inches tall. Honda gave ASIMO the ability to recognize moving objects, postures, gestures, its surrounding environment, sounds and faces, which enables it to interact with humans. It has two camera fitted inside the eyes which helps it to determine distance and directions of multiple objects. It can recognize when a handshake is offered or when a person waves or points and it can also respond accordingly. ASIMO can respond to questions by nodding or providing a verbal answer in different languages and can identify about 10 different faces and address them by name.
ASIMO has visual sensors, laser sensor, infrared sensor and front and rear ultrasonic sensors to help itself do the things it can and do it perfectly. It can walk at 2.7 kilometers per hour and run at 9 kilometers per hour. It can continuously operate for 1 hour.
The newest version of ASIMO was debuted in the U.S. at the New York International Auto Show, demonstrating the ability to communicate in sign language.

Atlas by Boston Dynamics
Atlas is a bipedal humanoid robot created by Boston Dynamics. It is considered to be one the world’s most dynamic humanoid. It was presented to the public in 2013. Atlas was funded by United States Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). It was created based on Boston Dynamics earlier PETMAN humanoid robot.
Atlas weighs about 75 kilograms (kg) and stands 1.5m or 4 ft. 11 inches tall. It has 28 joints and hydraulically actuated limbs which helps it to move freely giving it the ability to turn 180 degrees and carry 11 kilograms (kg) of payload.
The things this robot can do is insane. Humanoids aren’t supposed to be able to do it. This humanoid can do a perfect backflip and maintain its feet. It also keeps its balance when it is pushed and can get back up if it falls. It can also balance itself on one leg. Atlas can jump from block to block and turn 180 degrees mid-air while jumping as it was shown in its recent video released by Boston Dynamics. Atlas has many sensors including a laser range finder and a stereo camera which helps it to avoid obstacles and manipulate objects even if they are being moved.
If you are thinking these things are normal for us humans well it might be easy for us but to make a bipedal humanoid robot do these stuff is nothing short of extraordinary.

Nao by SoftBank Robotics (Previously Aldebaran Robotics)
Nao (pronounced now) is an autonomous and programmable humanoid robot created by SoftBank Robotics (Previously Aldebaran Robotics) in 2004.It has become one of the most known humanoid robots. It was made public in 2008 and has sold over 10,000 units in more than 50 countries. Nao is used in RoboCup which is an international robot soccer competition.
The fifth version (2014) of the Nao robot weights 4.3 kilograms (kg) and is 23 inches tall. It can be used for 90 minutes straight. The Nao robots feature either 25 degrees of freedom enables him to move freely and maintain his balance and to know whether he is lying or standing up. Numerous sensors in his head, hands and feet allows him to interact with the world around him and with his microphones and loudspeakers he can also respond accordingly in a natural manner.
Nao can see with his two HD cameras which also help him recognize his surroundings. His access to the internet and his AI enables him to reproduce human like behaviors.More than 200 institutes worldwide are using Nao robots for many purposes.Which is being used to teach autistic children in UK. iCub by RobotCub Consortium and Italian Institute of Technology
iCub was designed by RobotCub Consortium and built by Italian institute of Technology in 2004. iCub’s Cub stands for Cognitive Systems and Robotics. It is an open source humanoid robot. It is used for research into human cognition and artificial intelligence.
Its internal structure is largely influenced by the form of a human body. It learns a number of cognitive skills by making an interaction with the environment and humans. Its height is about 3 ft. 3 inches and weighs around 22 kilograms (kg). iCub has 53 degrees of freedom which allows it to make human like interactions. It also has stereo cameras and microphones which allows it to see and hear. It also has LEDs representing the mount and eyebrows which help make up facial expressions. Other sensors such as gyroscope and accelerometers help it to move and maintain body balance.
About 20 labs around the world has adopted iCub to study humanoid robotics. The capabilities of iCub is limitless as it is an open source humanoid robot which you can manipulate to your needs. But some of the things it can is crawling, solving complex 3D puzzles, archery, learning to hit the center of the target with arrows and a bow, facial expressions, force control and grasping small objects. It can also avoid itself in collisions.

Sophia is a humanoid robot developed by Hanson Robotics in 2015. She was first introduced in 2016 in Texas, US. She is one of the most advanced humanoids in the world and is the one and only robot citizen in the world. Sophia became a citizen of Saudi Arabia on October 25, 2017. Sophia was also named the United Nations Development Programme’s first ever Innovation Champion on November 21, 2017. She is the first non-human to be given any UN tittle. She even addressed members of the United Nations General Assembly committee.
Sophia is a normal human sized robot with face, torso and arms. It has 62 facial expressions including mile, frown, scowl, sneer, look happy, angry, afraid, surprised, disgusted, sad, confused, sleepy, neutral, and many others. Sophia’s gestures include eyebrow motions0, blinking, aesthetically realistic moving eyes, mouth and jaw motions and head turning motions. Sophia’s face is created with Frubber or flesh rubber which is created and patented by Hanson Robotics. It is made of nanotech skin which allows it to represent its 62 facial expressions.
The cameras in her eyes allow her to see, follow faces, sustain eye contact and recognize individuals. She can process speech and have conversations. Sophia’s AI gives her a sense of humor and is designed with human values in mind. This allows her to present human like behavior.

Sophia has become a renowned public figure after attending many events such as CBS 60 Minutes’ Charlie Rose, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Good Morning Britain with Piers Morgan, and outlets like CNBC, Forbes, Mashable, the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, and the Guardian.
